Committee Members Needed Urgently

In January we will be having the Annual General Meeting and some existing committee members will be stepping down. We really need a new Chairperson. Without a Chair, Playgroup will close. Could you or someone in your family take on this role? You do not have to have previous experience. A guide to the role is being created and the existing Chair will be on hand to support you.

As the Chairperson you are the Captain of the ship, organising meetings and delegating tasks for the committee. You will get to steer your child’s Pre-school into the future.

Ofsted Inspection

Playgroup had our Ofsted inspection on 17th October 2011 and we got GOOD for everything. 

The inspector liked the setting and says in her report: "Children are cared for by staff who know them well as individuals, consequently, they are happy and engaged and staff involve them in planning activities. Positive working relationships with parents and others involved in their care ensure children’s needs are met consistently which makes them feel secure."

"Staff are enthusiastic and committed to making the setting effective and a wide range of training has enabled them to meet individual children’s needs well."

"Staff have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage which means they can plan a wide range of activities so children learn through play."

A copy of the full report will be given to each child to take home. Well done to all the staff and committee and keep up the good work!

Breaston Pre-School Playgroup was presented with a cheque for £400.00 for money that was raised by Phil from the Bulls Head, Breaston. He and his staff dressed as Santa on the 4th December 2010 and ran through Breaston, Long Eaton and Sawley. Money was collected along the route and also via a donations jar in the pub.

New logo for Breaston Pre-school Playgroup

Take a good look at the new Breaston Pre-school Playgroup logo. A great deal of excitement revolved around this event and the children loved putting pen to paper to come up with their best designs.

The winning artists were Jessica Thomas, Ben Hickman and Andrea Pepios.

Many thanks to the staff who managed to get artwork from the children and to Mary Stewart of Long Eaton Art Room for being a great judge.

Due to the success of our Thursday and Friday lunch clubs, we are now running one on Mondays too.

So if your child is over 3 years old and attends Monday morning sessions, they are eligible to attend the Monday Lunch Club
